Cultivating Agave Using Regenerative and Indigenous Methods

On November 10, 2023 Hacienda Dominguez & Chelenzo Farms was featured as the newest Conservation and Adaptation Resources Toolbox (CART) case study from a multi-organizational partnership directed by the US Fish and Wildlife Service, in cooperation with the USDA. Our profile is entitled "Cultivating Agave Using Regenerative and Indigenous Methods."

CART enhances collaborative conservation efforts at watershed and landscape scales by facilitating issue-based, not geography-based, peer-to-peer knowledge sharing. By connecting hundreds of individuals from dozens of organizations across North America, CART helps bridge the gaps between work at project, landscape, and operational scales. CART answers “Who is doing what, and where? What is working and what isn’t? Where can we find resources to help us improve our work on a similar issue?”

A Case Study is a write-up of work completed to manage, conserve, restore, or conduct actionable science on natural resources. CART Case Study narratives focus on methods and lessons learned that can inform future work or projects in other geographies. Resources and references are provided directly in CART when possible. Case Studies provide an opportunity to highlight the work of professionals, especially work that is not published in the literature. Most importantly, Case Studies are a catalyst for conversations within and beyond our Communities of Practice.

CART is a multi-organizational partnership directed by the US Fish and Wildlife Service and Bureau of Reclamation and staffed by a growing network of coordinators and Case Study authors (collectively the CART Team).
