THE ALLURE OF HIDEOUTS

What is it about “hideouts” that are so appealing to children?

Is it a matter of getting away from the parents?

The sense that they have a place of their own, where they are in full control?

Is it an innate human desire for occasional privacy?

Perhaps, the most important question is “Why do we stop making them when we ‘grow up’?”

Does having a home substitute for a hideout?

Is that why escaped convicts seek hideouts?

These are the important issues one ponders when you’re in quarantine…
